China’s automotive aftermarket is experiencing robust growth as an upswing of the increased production and sales of cars, coupled with rising consumer demand for a diverse range of products and services. In response, the upcoming Auto Aftermarket Guangzhou (AAG) is set to support the industry’s expansion by providing full coverage of the supply chain. Taking place at the Poly World Trade Expo Center (PWTC Expo) in Guangzhou from 28 to 30 August 2024, this edition is anticipated to cover an exhibition area spanning over 70,000 sqm across six halls to host 1,500 exhibitors.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area) is an important national economic development initiative for China. Given its open-facing position, it serves as a gateway for multinational companies accessing the mainland market and is known as a hub for innovation. As such, the region continues to draw in the attention of neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Strategically located in the Greater Bay Area, AAG provides a platform for international trade, in addition to the advancement of after-sales car care in South China. The exhibition will display the latest technologies and products covering parts and components, oils, lubricants and fuels, accessories and customising, driving services, tyres and wheels, as well as diagnostics and repair.
Full coverage of the supply chain highlights the diversification of the aftermarket
China has led the global production and sales of vehicles for 15 consecutive years. In 2023, figures reached record highs of 30.161 million and 30.094 million units, representing a year-on-year growth of 11.6 and 12 percent, respectively. This surge has elevated the significance of the aftermarket within China’s automotive industry. Consequently, there is a mounting demand for a wide array of products and services to cater to this expanding market.
Parts & Components sector
As consumer expectations grow, companies that manufacture automotive parts and components must rise up to meet new technical demands and market challenges by strengthening R&D capabilities to produce cutting-edge technologies and premium parts.
As intelligence and electrification are becoming non-negotiables for drivers, the rapid development of new energy vehicles has brought new opportunities to the automotive aftermarket. This year, AAG will continue to leverage resources across driving systems, chassis, body, and standard mechanical parts for new energy vehicles, displaying auto parts products in Halls 1, 3, 5 and 6, with an exhibition area of 40,000 sqm.
Wear Parts zone and Commercial Vehicles zone
Wear parts play a critical role in a vehicle’s safety and performance. Accordingly, AAG will establish a dedicated Wear Parts zone in Hall 3 for related products in engines, brake pads, and more. The area will provide a number of opportunities for information exchange and communication with international players joining these discussions.
In addition, the Commercial Vehicles zone in Hall 5 is set to cater to various road transportations including logistics, passenger transport and other fields. The increasing demand is propelling the dynamic expansion of parts and aftermarket services. Therefore, this zone will feature these related technologies and products while fostering innovation and upgrade in the commercial vehicle industry.
Accessories & Customising and Driving Services sectors
As an upswing of the rising younger population gaining more purchasing power, drivers are placing more emphasis on automotive customising and driving services. At the same time, the rapid advancement of intelligent driving technology has also opened up new avenues in the segment, which are creating opportunities for automotive manufacturers looking to swiftly integrate and develop specialised products and frameworks.
To illustrate, the driving services industry has recently diversified, transitioning from conventional car rental services to differentiated business models based on the higher complexity of consumer needs. These include customising in areas such as ride-sharing and eco-friendly transportation, as well as vehicle upgrades with autonomous driving and connectivity functions. To spotlight these trends, the exhibition will introduce the Accessories & Customising and Driving Services sectors, hosting leading brands with related products in Halls 2 and 4. The sector offers a dynamic space for communication, fostering efficient interactions and driving the growth of the customising industry in a sustainable manner.
Oils, Lubricants & Fuels, Tyres & Wheels, and Diagnostics & Repair sectors
The oil, lubricant and fuel industries are integral to the automotive supply chain, each contributing to the efficient operation and optimal performance of vehicles. With the continuous development of automotive technology, high-end performance vehicles have higher requirements on oils. In this regard, AAG will expand its product offerings, attracting leading brands to reveal how to advance the low-carbon and sustainable development of the automotive aftermarket.
Elsewhere, tyres and wheels continue to utilise innovative materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to enhance vehicle fuel efficiency and performance. For example, lightweight technology has emerged as a significant trend in the wheel industry, which a number of exhibitors will introduce at AAG. In addition, the exhibition will welcome back industry leaders displaying products, services and technologies in diagnostics and repair, body painting and other related fields.
