The Olympic Games in Paris were an extraordinary event, uniting athletes and fans from around the globe in a celebration of sportsmanship and culture.

With nearly 10,000 athletes representing 206 countries, and millions of fans in attendance, the Paris 2024 Olympics, dubbed the “Games Wide Open,” were a testament to the power of global unity. Thanks to Samsung’s groundbreaking Galaxy AI technology, the experience was elevated, breaking down communication barriers and enhancing the Olympic spirit in ways never seen before.

Samsung played a pivotal role in transforming the Games-time experience through innovation. Athletes participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 were gifted the exclusive Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition, enhancing their experience both on and off the field. Meanwhile, Samsung’s immersive pop-up experiences, known as Olympic™ rendezvous @ Samsung, provided fans with interactive and engaging programs that connected them with athletes and each other daily.

One of the standout features in the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 was the Galaxy AI Interpreter, which provided real-time translations during face-to-face conversations via the devices’ unique dual screens. Since the opening of the Games, this Interpreter feature became an essential tool, helping athletes, volunteers, and visitors communicate across language barriers as they explored the iconic City of Light.

“I travel extensively, and the language barrier can often be a challenge,” explained Team Samsung Galaxy member Wilma Anna Helena Murto from Finland (Athletics). She was one of the many athletes who tried the Interpreter feature while visiting the Olympic™ rendezvous @ Samsung in Village Plaza. “This tool really makes a difference,” she added.

Alessandro Mazzara, another Team Samsung Galaxy member from Italy (Skateboarding), echoed Murto’s sentiments. “I travel monthly to different countries where various languages are spoken. This feature is something I’ll definitely use.”

Fans in Paris, who flocked to the Olympic™ rendezvous @ Samsung locations at Champs-Elysees 125 and Square Marigny to explore the latest Galaxy devices, were equally impressed. Josefine Christoffersen, a visitor from Sweden, found the translation feature particularly useful. Having arrived on August 3rd for her first Olympic Games experience, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite athletes in athletics, beach volleyball, and handball. On August 6th, she participated in the Samsung Olympic Games Pin Master Challenge at the Samsung pop-up in Square Marigny.

Siqi Chen, a student from China who has been living in France for five years, was another visitor fascinated by Samsung’s AI innovations. While visiting Champs-Elysees 125, Chen shared how useful the Interpreter feature had been for her. “Since moving to France, I’ve traveled extensively across Europe. This feature is a game-changer when I visit countries like Spain, allowing me to communicate in Spanish seamlessly.”

Kenny Goma, a Samsung promoter at the Champs-Elysees 125 pop-up, has witnessed firsthand how the translation feature has impacted visitors. Originally from Martinique and a resident of Paris for 12 years, Goma has been working at the pop-up since May. “People are really amazed by the cover screen,” said Goma. “Even if they can’t hear well, they can read the translation on the screen. What’s great is that it works even when you’re offline. It’s been one of the most popular features here.”

The impact of Samsung’s Galaxy AI wasn’t limited to visitors. Thousands of volunteers who helped ensure the Paris 2024 Olympics ran smoothly benefited from the technology as well. Emmanuel Mantilla Jr., a volunteer from the Philippines, shared how the Interpreter feature had enhanced his experience. “When I first arrived in Paris on July 25, it was a bit overwhelming, especially since I don’t speak French,” he explained. “But with Interpreter on my Galaxy S24 Ultra, I’ve been able to communicate easily with both visitors and fellow volunteers, even with French colleagues in my group. It’s been a game-changer.”

“The Champs-Elysees always has a lot of tourists, but the Olympic Games have brought even more people from around the world,” Goma added. “This is the perfect time to showcase Galaxy AI’s live translation capabilities. Now, even those who don’t speak French can celebrate together, not only at the Olympics but in their daily lives as well.”

The Paris 2024 Olympics was about more than just competition — it was a celebration of humanity, unity, and connection. With the help of Samsung’s Galaxy AI innovations, this Olympic experience became even more memorable, enabling seamless interactions and bringing the world closer together like never before.
