The excitement is building as Malaysia prepares to host its first-ever Dugem music festival, the Dugem Festival Countdown 2025 (DFC 2025), set to take place on December 31st, 2024, at The Landing, KL Base in Bandar Malaysia, Sungei Besi. This event is poised to be a game-changer for the country’s nightlife and music scene, offering a platform for both local and international Dugem artists to showcase their talents, while also providing an unparalleled experience for music lovers.
Dugem, an Indonesian-originating dance music genre that combines elements of electronic beats with soulful melodies, has steadily grown in popularity across Southeast Asia over the past decade. Known for its intense rhythms and mesmerizing grooves, Dugem music has found its way into Malaysia’s underground scene, particularly in niche dance clubs and private parties. However, the Dugem Festival Countdown 2025 marks a historic moment: the first large-scale, dedicated Dugem music festival in Peninsular Malaysia.
En Muhammad Adnan bin Mohd Dicky, the spokesperson for the Dugem Festival Countdown 2025, expressed his excitement about the event during the press launch: “This festival is not just a celebration of music, but a celebration of unity and cultural exchange across the Nusantara region. We are bringing together people from all backgrounds and nationalities to experience the energy of Dugem music and the spirit of togetherness,” he said.
The festival will not only bring together local Dugem fans but will also attract party-goers from neighboring countries like Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, and East Malaysia, creating a vibrant multicultural atmosphere.
With an impressive lineup of both local and international artists, DFC 2025 is set to offer a diverse musical experience. The festival’s headliners include two of Indonesia’s top Dugem stars, Cipydot and Icha Kharoline. These powerhouse performers have gained a massive following with their unique sound that blends Dugem with elements of house, trance, and techno, delivering high-energy performances that leave crowds in a state of euphoria.
On the local front, the festival will showcase some of Malaysia’s most prominent Dugem DJs, including Yonn, DJ Alyph, Kent Wukong, DJ Ajijie, Debi Echa, Alongputra, Manz, Mirul Twin Tech, and Baeby. These artists have carved their niche in the local EDM and underground scenes, infusing Dugem beats with regional and global influences.
In addition to these acts, the organizers are expected to reveal another international artist closer to the event, further increasing the anticipation surrounding the festival.
The Dugem Festival Countdown 2025 will take place in an open-air setting at The Landing, KL Base in Bandar Malaysia, which offers a spacious venue that can accommodate thousands of party-goers. The event will kick off at 3:00 PM and continue until 1:00 AM, ensuring ample time for attendees to fully immerse themselves in the music and the high-energy festival atmosphere.
One of the key features of the festival is the dedication to providing a comfortable and safe environment for all attendees. With multiple food and beverage booths, food trucks, portable toilets, and even a mosque for prayer, the organizers are ensuring that every aspect of the festival experience is covered. The event will also have security personnel on-site, along with RELA and police officers, to maintain safety and order throughout the day.
