Balai Ringin School Library Receives 2,000 New Books to Empower Students

A significant number of students in the area face challenges due to a lack of essential learning resources. Although efforts to repair and enhance the facilities are ongoing, the library still struggles to provide enough materials for its large student population. Today’s donation will help close this gap, offering 1,512 students access to a wider variety of novels, educational resources, and activity books that will aid their academic and personal growth.

This donation is part of the Books Build Legacy project, a program spearheaded by BESarawak. The event was jointly organized by the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), both of whom adopted the initiative to maximize the event’s positive impact on the community.

Hon. Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts in Sarawak and Member of Parliament for N30, remarked: “Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives. In today’s digital age, books remain indispensable for helping young people thrive both in school and in life. The Balai Ringin community is incredibly grateful for the generosity of DCCI, KCCI, BESarawak, and everyone who contributed to this effort. Thank you for uniting for such a noble cause.”

Dato Allan Keripin Nangkai, President of DCCI, explained: “Our initial goal was to gather 1,000 books, but within two days, we managed to exceed that target, collecting 2,000 books. The remarkable support from the local community and event participants underscores our strength and unity when we work together toward a shared goal. DCCI remains committed to advancing socio-economic progress for the Dayak communities through various business initiatives and opportunities.”

Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, shared: “The real impact of business events goes beyond the event itself; it lies in the relationships we foster. The success of the Books Build Legacy initiative during the 15th Joint DCCI-KCCI Gawai-Kaamatan 2024 Celebration proves the strength of these relationships and shows how meaningful our collective efforts can be when applied to a good cause.”

The 15th Joint DCCI-KCCI Gawai-Kaamatan Celebration not only served as a platform for cultural unity between the communities of Sarawak and Sabah but also demonstrated the organizers’ dedication to uplifting and supporting indigenous communities.
