Similar to numerous other singers in Malaysia, Ernie Zakri, a gifted vocalist, is keen on adding to the festive spirit of Aidilfitri that is just around the corner. Keeping this in mind, Ernie has created a new Raya song titled ‘HAHAHAHAHari Raya’.
This song was composed and written by Ernie Zakri herself along with several other composers and lyricists namely Mage, Glowrush, and Ajay Amai of Faithful Music. Arranged and produced by Adib Hussin and Glowrush, the song exudes its own style.
“Like songs by the late Malaysian Icon, Saloma, it breathes sounds from the era of the 1950s. This element was featured to create a slight difference in terms of sound, compared to my previous Raya songs,” said Ernie, opening the conversation.
Ernie also added that the process of recording this track was very easy. “In the beginning there was already a short version of about two minutes. Then we decided to extend the track. Thus, I added a melody, particularly at the song’s bridge because I wanted to highlight something new to this piece. So, there are modern elements as well and it’s not entirely similar to a Saloma song from the 50s.
In fact, while working with my fellow writers at Faithful Music, I always get new experiences in addition to learning other techniques in creating new songs. I’m happy to be able to work with them while breaking new ground in music,” added Ernie.
This song is also completed with a music video, shot during the fasting month. “The storyline of the music video is very simple. It revolves around three siblings on the eve of Hari Raya and I play the role of the eldest sister or Kak Long who tries to unite my two younger siblings who are always arguing. The concept is fun, cheerful and very relaxed,” he explained.
The music video also features Ernie’s very own head scarf brand called ‘Ayuwan’. Throughout the month of Ramadan, the Ayuwan headscarves have been seen at various events including Star Vendor, KL Convention Centre on March 30th recently. Ernie also managed to promote the headscarf brand on the 31st of March 2024 at Sogo KL while performing the song HAHAHAHAHari Raya. This was followed by a meet and greet session with fans and media at the end of the event.
When asked about her hopes for the piece, Ernie only wants the best for this song. “If possible, everyone wants their songs to be evergreen and long-lasting, but most importantly, I want this song to make listeners laugh and be happy. I want them to enjoy it, in accordance with the concept of this song as an Aidilfitri celebration song. Hopefully the listeners will find happiness and joy of Eid when listening to this song,” commented Ernie again.
HAHAHAHAHari Raya has been released on all digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, KKBOX, Deezer and Youtube Music on the 22 March 2024, and the music video is now released on Ernie Zakri official YouTube channel on the 27 March 2024.
