Continuing from the groundbreaking release of the unprecedented “This is Johan” documentary and the announcement of an upcoming concert in Singapore on July 5th, 2024, Joe Flizzow persists in his pursuit of success, exploring every avenue along the way. Malaysia’s hip-hop luminary and reigning president of the genre continues to captivate audiences with his latest single, “Berlian,” further solidifying his position as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
Known for his countless successful collaborations, this time around Joe rings in local rising star Gard, who is respected in the underground scene and known for his off-beat hooks and unusual vocal delivery style. Testament to Joe’s belief in the future. Gard was featured on 16 Baris and now on a song together with Joe himself. 16 Baris continues to prove its relevance in the hip-hop community.
Berlian, composed and written by Din Tiger and Joe’s favourite partner in hip hop crime, SonaOne, the track was also produced by the same duo with arrangements by SonaOne himself.
Berlian serves as a metaphorical reminder of life’s fleeting nature, urging us to embrace each moment fully. Much like poetry set into motion, Berlian seeks to encapsulate fleeting moments and transform them into a timeless song.
With the song Berlian, Joe Flizzow continues to provoke listeners and strike up fiery debates about what the future of hip-hop in Malaysia will sound like.
According to Joe, it did not take him too long to complete the song’s recording. “We did it all in one day. Wrote the first verse in less than an hour. Went up to the mic and I had my first two bars and completed the first verse in less than 30 minutes,” said Joe.
The catchy track which comes with a visually stunning music video also sees the participation of renowned Malaysian actress Sazzy Falak who adds the extra punch needed in the video and song’s storyline.
Like all his past masterpieces, Joe is optimistic that Berlian will be well-received by his fans and music lovers in general. “It is like we created a diamond. Some people will appreciate diamonds and some people don’t. But diamonds are forever,” ended Joe.
Berlian has been released on all digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, KKBOX, Deezer and Youtube Music on the 8 March 2024, and the music video has been released on Joe Flizzow official YouTube channel on the 9 March 2024.
