BESarawak, a trailblazer in Malaysia and Borneo’s business events industry, recently honoured nine of its team members for their exceptional dedication and long service. These individuals, who have contributed between five and fifteen years of service to the company, were recognized for their significant contributions and commitment to BESarawak’s success.
The long-service awards ceremony was held during the preview of LEGACY30 – Business Events for a Sustainable Future Forum on 13 January 2025, with over 200 invited industry partners in attendance. The event celebrated the achievements of those who have dedicated themselves to shaping the future of business events in Sarawak. Among the honourees were Jacqueline Png Tiang Hua, General Manager of Corporate Management, who was recognised for 15 years of service, and Alicia anak Alias, Senior Research Executive, for her decade-long contributions. In addition, several other employees were acknowledged for their five years of service, including Bibi Afiqah binti Abdul Karim, Project Liaison Manager, Rose Bruce, Strategic Communications Manager, Farah Mardziah Zawani bte Abu Bakar, Research Executive (Corporate Meetings & Incentives), Chrislynn Siaw Ling Hui, Senior Bids Executive, Alexander anak Sigau, Bid Designer, Allistair Lorenzo James, Senior Digital Development Executive, and Gary Chan, Senior Marketing Executive.

The Hon. Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, delivered a heartfelt address during the ceremony, highlighting that the strength of Sarawak’s business events sector lies in its people. He remarked that these employees’ contributions extend beyond business events, influencing other sectors like tourism and hospitality, and creating a broader economic impact.
Dato Sri Abang Haji Abdul Karim bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chairman of BESarawak, expressed his pride in watching the team grow and succeed. He emphasised that the small daily efforts and actions of the team play a vital role in BESarawak’s larger success, helping to build a stronger and more impactful industry for the future.
Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, also spoke highly of the award recipients, calling them “legacy makers.” She recognised that their vast knowledge and experience have made a lasting impact on the organisation and the business events industry as a whole. Amelia also praised their potential as mentors for future business event leaders, eager to see them continue to grow and inspire others in their professional journeys.
